Canada and Provincial student loans are available to Canadian Citizens and Landed Immigrants who qualify. Applications for BC residents are available from VMPS, the local student loans office or any Post Secondary Institution. Residents of other Canadian provinces must apply to their home province student loan office. For example, Ontario students should contact the Ontario Ministry of Education. The application process for Financial Assistance tends to be quite lengthy and somewhat involved, so students should apply as soon as possible.

Student Loan Process

The following is a guide for students who require student loans. It will help them ensure their loans are submitted allowing enough time to be processed before the program start date.

8-9 weeks in Advance Loan application forms must be picked up, filled out and sent in to the Student Loans Office no later than 8 weeks before the beginning of class. (This allows plenty of time for Student Loans to assess your application).

2-3 weeks in Advance You will be sent a confirmation letter from your Student Loan Office when you have been approved. We need a copy of this letter no later than 2 weeks before the beginning of class.

Beginning of School Term One week before classes begin, you will be given your actual student loan forms that must be taken to a Canada Post Office that is designated to handle student loans. To find out which designated Canada Post outlet is nearest you, CLICK HERE. If you have any questions, or encounter difficulties with your student loans office, please contact the VMPS accounting office immediately.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students not completing these forms, or neglecting to take them to the bank will not be allowed to attend any classes after the first complete week of school.

In the case of a Government Student Loan falling short of the total tuition payment, our accounting department would be happy to offer financial guidance. All monies MUST be PAID in FULL before any tickets, certificates, report cards or transcripts will be issued. International Students click here.
