Victoria Motion Picture School offers independent part-time film and acting programs aimed at individuals who would like to receive professional training but not interrupt their day jobs to get it. All independent part-time courses will be offered on evenings and weekends.
Independent part-time students will receive the same quality training that full time students receive and in some cases from the same instructors.

Acting For Film
DEVELOP YOUR TALENT
GUIDED BY A MASTER ACTING INSTRUCTOR
This workshop is designed to introduce actors into “acting for film”. The classes will consist of helping the actor free their "Instrument" (body and mind) and introduce how to analyze script to discover character.
INSTRUCTOR: Louie was part of a Hollywood Production Team that produced the feature length documentary film “Manson”, that was nominated for an Academy Award. Since that time he has been a member of the Producer’s Guild of America and the Director’s Guild of America.
He was born in Penticton, BC and left for Hollywood after high school to follow his dream of being in the film industry. There he studied and worked in films and television at many studios in a variety of crew positions, from grip to Director of Photography and developed his skills to the positions of Producer and Director. Over the last twenty years he had Produced and Directed feature films and television, while also teaching both acting and film production at various studios in Hollywood.
In 1994 he returned to Canada to produce independent films and television and to settle on Vancouver Island where to this day he still pursue his crafts of film-making and teaching at the Victoria Motion Picture School. His most recent credits include a feature length documentary “UNREPENTANT” which he directed and co-produced and was awarded:

Actors working with the Director
An acting class designed to teach the actor his job and relationship in working with the Director to create a scene and put on film.
1- The job of the actor- Define what is the actor’s job. Actor will learn thro hands on exercises what their job is and how to be able to perform their job, honestly and truthfully.
2- Scene study- Learn how to analyze a scene and discover how to use your own inner instincts to create a truthful and real character for the camera.

Introduction
to Digital Editing
This two day
intensive course will cover the essentials you need to
successfully edit film or taped drama.
- You will learn:
- Pre-visualization
- Selecting shots
- Using Final Cut Pro software
- Building tension
- The importance of sound
This is a
“hands on” course. Each student will be required to edit a
dramatic sequence and will receive a tape of the work they
did.
A maximum of (8) students only in this course.
